LinkBait Maddness at Affiliate Summit West

Categories:

Web Marketers will stop at nothing to kick some dust up. This past weekend the Affiliate Summit West was held. Although I didn’t attend, I got a bunch of second hand information about the incredible amount of people, the great free giveaways and the Copeac/Wickfire shirt that stole the show. It may seem like a childish prank at first glance. But trust me when I say these guys are dead serious. And that’s the way we like it at Convertordie.com :)

Checkout what Shoemoney had to say about the whole affair.

Get the story straight from the man himself Jon of Wickedfire fame.

GoogleBomb No More

To be honest the term “GoogleBombing” is relatively new, but the concept is very old. I have to say that I have never gotten involved in a G-Bomb, but I have been know to participate in SEO contests. You remember “Ultramarine Negritude“? I really did well with that one. I made the top 20. I think if I had started earlier that I could have done a little better.

But G-bombing has a more grassroot political foundation. Googling the ever popular “miserable failure” does not bring the same results as before. So big-G’s filters are doing the trick.
After reading Danny Sullivan’s article about the subject it made me wonder how much time and effort some will go to in order to make a point. So in my minds eye, g-bombing is much like a SEO competiton. But instead of one individual obtaining the glory, it’s a shared victory of bloggers.

Yahoo Update: A dream come true or a nightmare from Sunnydale?

At first I didn’t think the latest in Yahoo’s title/description update had any affect on my sites. But after a second look I see some very strange results. Well the good news is that a second tier page has joined some of the index homepages for the target keywords I’m aiming for. But if you have been keeping up with the myths and here says, the strange truncated description= title thing is really trippin me out.

Instead of crying I plan on being more productive with this new information. There is something unique and interesting about the way Yahoo has re-structed the meta data being displayed. I have never seen this before. But I guess it makes sense in a way.

Google to spend $600 million on Data Center in N.C.

Our big brother Google will be building a brand new state of the art data center in North Carolina. It will be  a server farm that will employ over 200 people.

Bravo Google! N.C. has been having a hard time in the past few years because of the hardships created by the doors shutting of textile companies.  The automotive industry should have taken the high road like big “G” and open more branches in the states as opposed to running across the border.  A very business savvy and honorable move IMHO.
